Get ready for an exciting half-day adventure to one of Guatemala’s most active volcanoes. Depending on the time slot you choose (6:00 AM or 2:00 PM), the driver will pick you up at your hotel or designated meeting point in Antigua. Since transportation is shared, please allow a 15–30 minute window for pick-up as other travelers will be collected along the route.
You’ll travel in a comfortable shuttle bus with other adventurers. Once you arrive at the base of Pacaya, your certified guide will lead you on a moderate hike that takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours each way, depending on the group’s pace.
Along the trail, you’ll walk over solidified lava fields, see steaming vents, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views. There will be plenty of time to take photos, explore, and learn about the volcano’s unique geology. This tour is suitable for most fitness levels and is a must-do outdoor experience near Antigua Guatemala.
We’ll pick you up from your hotel or a convenient meeting point in Antigua at your chosen time (either 6:00 AM or 2:00 PM). Since transport is shared, allow a 15–30 minute pickup window to accommodate other guests. Travel in comfort as the minivan makes its way to San Vicente Pacaya, transitioning from colonial streets to volcanic landscapes.
Meet your certified local guide, who will lead you on a moderate hike up Pacaya. Please note: there is an entrance fee of Q100 per person (not included in the tour price) that must be paid directly at the park entrance. The trail takes about 1.5 to 2 hours each way, depending on the group’s pace. Along the way, you’ll see solidified lava fields, steaming vents, and enjoy sweeping views of the Guatemalan landscape.
At the top, gaze out at breathtaking views of nearby volcanoes—Agua, Fuego, Acatenango—and the valley below. Depending on volcanic activity, you may catch glimpses of steam vents or lava flows from a safe distance. This is also a favorite spot for taking photos or enjoying a snack.
We’ll begin the descent, which typically takes around an hour. Once back at the base, the minivan will be waiting to take you back to Antigua. The drive does double duty as a scenic cooldown, giving you time to relax and reflect on an unforgettable volcanic journey.
